eBay profit tracker built for Australian sellers

An eBay profit tracker for Australia has to handle AUD, GST on fees, postage that is often a third of a cheap sale, and a financial year that ends 30 June. Flippedit is built in Australia for that job. It syncs your eBay.com.au sales and the fees eBay actually charged, then subtracts postage and cost of goods so you can track eBay sales without a GST-blind spreadsheet.

Nothing charged until the trial ends. Cancel anytime.

AUD on eBay.com.au. Same per-item formula, GST-inclusive fees, financial year ending 30 June.

Why Australian eBay sellers need a different tracker

Most “eBay profit tracker” pages are written for US sellers: 1099-K, PayPal era math, dollar signs that are not AUD. Australian selling has a different pile of leaks.

Fees are a plan, not a vibe. From May 2026, Australia-based sellers with up to $25,000 in sales over the past 12 months can sit on eBay's free-selling offer: $0 transaction fees on eBay.com.au sales. Cross that, or join a Pro plan, and you are in a different world. Pro Starter charges 13.4% including GST on most categories (on the portion of the sale up to $4,000, then 2.5% above), plus a small per-order fee. Paid Pro subscriptions (Basic from $27.45 a month, Featured, Anchor) buy a lower percentage and still cost money every month whether you sell or not.

A US template that knocks 13.25% plus 2.9% plus $0.30 off every sale is wrong for both groups.

GST sits on the fee. Australian GST of 10% is payable on eBay fees unless you have given eBay an ABN and the right tax treatment. The fee you see in Seller Hub is often already GST-inclusive. If your sheet applies GST again, you double-count. If it ignores GST and you are registered, your BAS and your profit figure drift apart.

Postage is a bigger slice of a $20 op-shop sale than of a $200 US part. Satchels, fuel to the post office, and “free postage” listings priced into the item are where Australian margins go to die. A tracker that treats postage as optional is a US product wearing an AUD symbol.

EOFY is 30 June, not 31 December. If you rebuild the year in the first week of July from eBay reports, you will miss refunds that landed in June and costs you never tagged. An Australian tracker should let you run 1 July to 30 June without fighting the calendar.

Flippedit was built by an Australian seller and a developer who were tired of that exact week. The company is Flippedit Pty Ltd. Data is processed in Australia. Pricing on this page is in AUD: $39 AUD a month or $299 AUD a year.

Track eBay sales in Australia without guessing the fee

Flippedit connects to your eBay account through eBay's official API. The fee line on each sale is the fee eBay charged that sale, in AUD.

That is the only way a tracker survives a year when eBay changes the plan names, invents free selling, and retitles Stores to Pro. You do not update a rate table. You look at the order.

On a $50 item with $10 postage collected from the buyer, a Pro Starter seller is not looking at $50 of profit. The fee is calculated on the total ($60), so 13.4% is $8.04 before the per-order fee and before any promoted listing percentage you set. Add the satchel you actually paid for, and the op-shop cost, and the $50 listing is a different business. The worked example lives on eBay fees and true profit. This page's job is the Australian wrapper: GST, postage habits, and EOFY.

If you are on free selling, the transaction fee may be $0. Flippedit will show $0. That is not a bug. It is the point of pulling fees from eBay. You still need COGS and postage, because “no eBay fee” is how people start giving stock away.

GST, ABN, and what the tracker will not pretend to be

This is general information, not tax advice. Talk to an accountant who sees eBay sellers.

What we will say plainly:

  • Profit from eBay sales is assessable income in Australia if you are sourcing to resell. There is no UK-style £1,000 trading allowance.
  • GST registration is generally required once turnover hits $75,000. Under that, you typically do not charge GST and you typically cannot claim GST credits.
  • eBay reports activity to the ATO under the sharing-economy reporting regime. Hoping the platform stays quiet is not a strategy.
  • You pay tax on profit, not on gross sales. That only helps if you can prove costs.

Flippedit's job is the proof: sale, fee, postage, COGS, refund, expense, in a range you can set to the financial year. The P&L page is the accountant-ready export. This page is why an Australian seller should not import a US sheet and hope GST works itself out.

We do not lodge your BAS. We do not decide whether you are a hobby. We keep the numbers clean enough that the person who does those jobs is not reconstructing July from screenshots.

Postage is an Australian profit problem

Australian sellers underprice postage constantly. A $15 toy with “free postage” still needs a satchel, a trip, and often a second trip when the first label was wrong. If the tracker does not let you put that cost on the item, your best-selling SKU is the one destroying margin.

Flippedit attributes shipping you covered to the sale it belongs to. Combined with days-to-sell, you can see that a $12 profit that took 80 days and two satchels was a worse use of capital than a $9 profit that cleared in a week.

The weekly scoreboard for an Australian seller is revenue, expenses, profit percent, sell-through, items that need cost data. It is not a US 1099 widget with the currency swapped.

EOFY without the shoebox

Financial year in this product means 1 July to 30 June when you pick it. Because Flippedit syncs all year, EOFY is a range on the P&L, not a project.

Practical rhythm that actually works:

  • Connect before the year turns, or as early as you can
  • Add COGS as you source, not in June
  • Log expenses (tape, fuel, storage) as they happen
  • In the first week of July, export the year and send it to the accountant

If you are reading this in May or June, start anyway. A partial year of true fees is still better than twelve months of “about 13%.”

Mobile sourcing is the Australian use case

A lot of this market sources at Vinnies, garage sales, and marketplace pickups, then lists from a phone. A tracker that only lives in a desktop sheet gets skipped on Saturday morning, which is when you decide whether to buy the next box.

Flippedit has an iPhone app and an Android app. Sales, profit, and the calculator travel with you. That is not a side feature for this URL. It is why an Australian profit tracker has to be an app, not a downloaded Excel file from a US blog.

Pricing in AUD

Track eBay sales in Australia on purpose

If you are searching “ebay profit tracker australia” or “track ebay sales australia,” you already know Seller Hub is not going to do GST, postage, and EOFY as a business view. You need software that is priced in AUD, reads eBay.com.au fees as charged, and treats 30 June as a real deadline.

That is Flippedit. Start free 7-day trial, connect the store, and look at last month in AUD after fees. Keep it if the number is finally honest.

Common questions

Is Flippedit an eBay profit tracker for Australia?

Yes. Flippedit Pty Ltd is an Australian company. The product is priced in AUD, understands an EOFY of 1 July to 30 June, and uses the fees eBay.com.au charged on each sale rather than a US rate card.

Does it handle GST?

eBay's Australian fees are quoted including 10% GST unless you have given eBay your ABN for a tax-exempt treatment. Flippedit records the fee that was charged. GST registration at $75,000 turnover is still a conversation with your accountant. The tracker gives them the sales, fees, postage, and COGS to work from.

Can I track eBay sales in Australia on my phone?

Yes. Flippedit has native iPhone and Android apps, which matters when you are sourcing at an op shop and need last week's true margin, not a laptop spreadsheet.

Does it work if I am under the $25,000 free-selling threshold?

Yes. If eBay charged $0 transaction fees on a sale, Flippedit shows $0. Postage, ads, refunds, and cost of goods still come off. Free selling does not mean free profit.

When should I start so EOFY is not a mess?

Before 1 July if you can. Flippedit keeps the year as it happens, so July is an export rather than a reconstruction from Seller Hub and Australia Post receipts.
